Keep on TRACK

When the days get busier, and activities start filling in your calendar, it can be hard to keep a handle on your eating and exercise. Being conscious of what you are putting in your body and what you're burning through workouts is the key to weight loss and maintenance. Luckily, we live in an age of apps, widgets, and fancy technology! These provide us with some excellent tools to keeping our exercise and nutrition on track. I have selected a few fitness/nutrition tracker tools that you can try out to keep an eye on your progress. Many of them let you set goals and add in information for a more personalized tool. Click on the name of the tracker to learn more!

USDA Food Pyramid/Fitness Supertracker

SuperTracker Beta

The USDA Supertracker has both exercise and diet trackers. You can set goals for minutes of exercise per week and calories per day. The diet tracker even allows you to make "combos" of your favorite foods and add in recipes for easy tracking.

My Fitness Pal

My Fitness Pal is very similar to USDA Supertracker in that you can record both diet and exercise. It is available both online and as an App, so you can take it on the go!

Lose It!

Lose It!

Lose it! has a comprehensive food database complete with a barcode scanner for items you are having trouble finding in the database. It also has a social community and challenges section focused on keeping you motivated. A mobile app is available for this tracker too.

Cron-O-Meter

cronometer.com
No-frills diet and activity tracker!

Any of the trackers above will help you get a handle on your own personal energy balance. Weight loss and maintenance is all about "calories in and calories out." Keeping in mind that we also burn a certain amount of calories at rest! Just being conscious of what you're eating can lead to healthier eating rather than mindless or bored snacking. Give it a try and let us know your favorite one! If you have another tracker that you use and like, feel free to comment and share!
