“A dream written down with a date becomes a goal.
A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes
your dreams come true.”

Start by asking yourself, “Why?”
A fitness resolution is rarely about fitness. Ask yourself why this fitness resolution is important
to you on a deeper level. What
drives you? What gets you out of bed in the morning and keeps you up at night? What’s motivating YOU to make a change?
An efficient
way to set your New Year’s goals is by setting SMART goals.
SMART stands for:
Specific (what exactly is being
accomplished),
Measurable (how will you know when the
goal is complete),
Achievable (do you have everything you
need to complete the goal),
Relevant (why is the goal significant
to your life), and
Timely (when will you achieve the
goal).
5 Tips to Help You COMPLETE Your New Year’s
Resolution
1. Write your goals down instead of just
saying them out loud. It allows you to free up mental clutter so you can
visualize the things you need to achieve.
2. Form good habits. A big part of fulfilling your goals
is directing focus on setting and developing a routine, setting reminders of your
“why”, and not focusing solely on the reward. You also must realize that setbacks
will be part of the process, some days you cannot get it done and that is
fine, just focus on doing better the next day.
3. Organize your goals into categories
such as career, health/fitness, personal. It is important to have your goals
categorized so you can prioritize which one is more important, or which one is
important during a certain period in your life or period of the day.
4. Don’t set too many goals. By scattering your focus across too many goals you can’t
channel your full effort into them. So, one of the tips
on how to set smart fitness goals for the New Year is to focus only on one
or two fitness goals. This way, you can put 100% into them and be
able to maintain them for longer.
5. Make yourself accountable. Accountability is huge when it
comes to sticking to your fitness resolution. Find a way to hold yourself
accountable, whether that means getting a friend to call, text, or email you
once a week, having a co-worker regularly check-in, or keeping a journal
detailing your progress.
