Want to Stick to Your Fall/Winter Workout? Take A Look Here!
1. Stay Warm!
Dress appropriately for your workout, your body is battling the outdoors to keep you at a nice and warm 98.6 degrees! Layer up, and ease into your cold weather activities.
2. Schedule Your Workouts
Planning ahead does wonders for keeping you consistent with your workouts. Individuals who plan their workouts ahead of time are far more likely to continue in their workouts than those who do not.
3. Set Realistic Goals
Goal setting is essential in all workout routines. Appropriate and realistic goal setting is key to have a successful workout routine. Set your goals to something that you truly know that you can achieve. Set short term, mid term, and long term goals. Adjust your goals as you meet your short term goals, those long term goals can become something more than you thought you would ever achieve!
4. Partner Up!
Team up with a friend, you will be more likely to participate in your workout if you have someone with you! Having another person around to keep you accountable is a fantastic way to keep away from abandoning your routine and hibernating all winter! Oh, and by the way...you're helping a friend stick to their routine too!
5. Try Something New
The same workout, repeated over and over can make exercise stale and repetitive. Try mixing up your routines. Mix indoor and outdoor days, weightlifting days, and cardiovascular days, or mix them all together!
6. Actually Take Rest Days!
Yes, you actually need to let your body rest. Recovery days are just as important as the days you are training. Your body is repairing the muscle tissue you tore up throughout the week, give it a chance to catch up with you! Also, think of it as a gift from your body to you, take a break and enjoy it (just not every day...).
