Lowering Your StressOmeter

Hey Everyone,

The holiday season is a BLAST but it can also be stressful.  You have decorating, buying gifts, cleaning the house, hosting a party, and let's not forget about all of the seasonal outdoor activities.  Learn how to deal with stress by following these 9 steps.  The article I found is a little lengthy so I have given you the short version because I know everyone is on the go!

Identify Your Stressors - this is the first step!  Understand what raises your stress level so you can better control it

Eliminate Unnecessary Commitments - Prioritize your life; What is an aspect that doesn't deserve the stress you are giving it.

Procrastination - Instead of letting things pile up, put away a little at a time to prevent tackling a monster of papers.

Disorganization - We are all a little messy, but have system for where you place items so you can go back and find them later (even if at first it means "this corner").

Don't Be Late - Being late stresses you out.  Push your timeline back to give yourself an extra 10-15 minutes a day.  Don't treat it as leaving early; it's your new time to leave in order to be on time.

Control What You Can - Some things you can not control.  There is no sense stressing over them.  An example of this are lines while Christmas shopping.  There will always be lines and waits.  Go in prepared for it.

Un-schedule - Create times in your life that are just for you.  We all need a little "me time."

Exercise - sort of a duhh answer but one that works!  Take care of your body.

Eat Healthy - Another duhh answer but it's true.  Fuel your body for your busy day with nourishing foods.  Eating a bunch of fast and junk food will only lead to mood swings and fluctuation in your diet.
