Barbecue Season!

I hope you guys had an awesome Fourth of July!  I was out of town but I heard it was very rainy on Monday.  Hopefully, you weren't some of the brave citizens on the mall for the day.  That's dedication right there!  Regardless, it is cookout season so let's review some ways to stay healthy at your future block parties.  We have a few extra tips out on our bulletin boards this month as well.  

Don't be afraid to offer the healthier option.  While having barbecues at your house can be more work, it gives you the opportunity to decide what is being served.  If you know there is going to be a lot of junk food where you're going, try eating a healthy appetizer so you are less likely to overindulge.  Also, serve bigger portions of the healthier items like a salad or a veggie snack.  Save the non healthy items for last to moderate your portion control.  Finally, try exercising or being active outdoors before heading over.  You'll be less likely to splurge on your diet when you know you already put work in for that day.
